In Current Science, that amount of a given substance or species having a mass in grams numerically the same as its molecular or atomic weight, equivalent (in the International System of Units) to the quantity of specified molecules, ions, electrons, etc., that in number equals the number of atoms in 0.012 kg of the carbon isotope of mass 12.
